Privacy policy
Last updated 5 November 2026
This policy explains what information The Parallel Code ("we") collects when you use The Parallel Code LMS (the "LMS"), why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to run your account and your courses. We don't sell your information and we don't show advertising on the LMS.
Information we collect
- Account details: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash.
- Learning activity: the courses you enrol in, lessons you complete, how much of each lesson video you watch, and certificates issued to you.
- Information you give us: support tickets and messages, certificate applications, and, if you use placement assistance, your placement profile (skills, experience, links and anything else you add).
- Technical data: your IP address and browser type, used for sign-in security, preventing abuse and keeping an audit trail of account changes.
Signing in with Google
If you choose "Continue with Google", we receive and store your name, email address, whether that email is verified, and your Google account ID. We request only the basicopenid email profile permissions. We use this information only to create your account or sign you in to your existing account.
We don't access your Gmail, contacts, Drive or any other Google data. We don't share Google user data with anyone, and we don't use it for advertising. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account, and sign you in.
- To give you access to courses, save your progress and issue certificates.
- To send service emails: email verification, password resets, certificate and support updates. We don't send marketing emails without your consent.
- To answer your support requests and, if you ask for it, provide placement assistance.
- To keep the LMS secure and working, for example by limiting repeated failed sign-in attempts.
Certificates and public verification
Each certificate has an ID and a QR code so employers can check it. Anyone with the certificate ID can see the name on the certificate, the course, and the issue date on our verification page. Nothing else about your account is shown.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect sign-in with Google. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. Lesson videos are played through YouTube's player; when you press play, YouTube may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the services that help us run the LMS, and only what they need:
- our hosting provider, which stores the LMS and its database;
- our email delivery provider (Brevo), to send you service emails;
- YouTube, which plays the lesson videos;
- employers, but only the placement profile and application you choose to submit for a job opening.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. Certificates and their verification records are kept so that they stay verifiable. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep it by law.
Your choices and rights
- You can see and update your name and password from your profile.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account, by emailing support@theparallelcode.com.
- If you signed in with Google, you can remove the LMS's access at any time from your Google Account.
Security
The LMS is served only over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and staff access is limited by role. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at support@theparallelcode.com if you notice anything unusual.
Children
The LMS is meant for learners aged 13 and over. Learners under 18 should use it with a parent's or guardian's permission.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you by email or on the LMS. Questions? Email support@theparallelcode.com.
